Obituary of Richard Mullen

Richard “Dick” Mullen, age 54, of Champaign, Illinois formerly of Plainfield, passed suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home. He was born July 15, 1963 in Stevens Point, the son of Arthur and Madge (LaBrot) Mullen. Richard was a 1981 graduate of Tri-County High School. After high school he attended Michigan State University, majoring in turf management. This lead to jobs in the golf industry, and with lawn maintenance companies. Richard enjoyed golfing, bowling, and for a few years playing softball. He was a big fan of the MSU Spartans, Detroit Tigers and Red Wings (from his time living ini the Detroit area), also followed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers (when not playing the Spartans anyway). Richard was a SUPER fan of Jimmy Buffett and a true Parrothead. Also loved attending concerts of other bands with family and friends and any other gatherings through the years. Dick was a true people person. He was the proud father of his daughter, Lindsey, and really treasured their times together with her activities and trips. He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Sharon) San Antonio, TX, Harold “Butch” (Yong) Harker Heights, TX., and Robert “Bob” (Patricia) Plainfield, WI. Also survived by his brother-in-law, Robert Reynolds (Carol). He is further survived by nieces, Marissa and Denise and nephew, Matthew, along with 3 great nephews and one great niece, and a large numbers of cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Margaret (Peg) Reynolds. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield. Inurnment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.
