Obituary of Bob Bartels

Robert William Bartels passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018.

He was born on August 12, 1926. Son of Irving W. Bartels and Merna [Drake] Bartels.  He attended the Walker Grade School, and Plainfield High School, graduating in 1944. Bob was a member of the band and played basketball. He joined the 4-H Club at age 10, and later became a Junior and Adult Leader. After High School, he worked on the Home Farm as well as Rapid Beverage, Consolidated Power and Paper Co. and Allard Trucking Co. In 1949, Bob left the farm and moved to Madison, WI to live and work. This is where he met his future wife, Hilda Peterson. He did electrical work and joined the I.B.E.W. Union in 1958 and was a retired member at the time of his death. In 1972, Bob and family moved to Phoenix, AZ for health reasons. In Phoenix, he became Building Engineer of HVAC for Dillard's and Goldwater Stores. After retirement in 1988, Bob became a Security Guard at Security Bank, Mesa Lutheran Hospital and Palmas Del Sol housing. After a move to Farmington, New Mexico for 5 years, he moved back to Wautoma, WI. Bob had a great love for music. He also loved to hunt and fish.His parents and wife preceded him in death.

    He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Kay (James) Lewis; two grandchildren, David Lewis and Karen (Loyd) Bundridge; two great grandchildren, Loyd Bundridge and Dymond Bundridge; one brother, Harold (Diane) Bartels; two sisters, Dorothy (Ken) Poppe and Diane Bartels; his significant other, Millie Johnson, plus many nephews and nieces.
